The Common School is a historic schoolhouse built in 1809 and an important landmark in Fairfield Center. The Town is supporting plans to bring it back to life as an asset central to our community.
The Common School Working Group is a cross-section of community members who meet monthly to work toward a sustainable future for the Common School Building at 75 Soule St., Fairfield. Please be in touch if you want to participate and fill out our survey to share your thoughts about the Common School's future use!
The Town of Fairfield received a grant to develop architectural schematic designs and cost estimates to restore the Common School around a community vision. The intention is to restore the building with flexibility for a range of uses, including but not limited to use by the Black Creek After School program run by the Fairfield Community Center.
The Common School Working Group meets monthly, as needed, at the Town Office building on the corner of North Rd. and Rte 36. Please join us!
